Configure Subflow Elements Without Assigning Output Values

When you add a Subflow element to a flow, we automatically store the output values. You’re no longer required to create and assign variables, but you can still opt to do so. This change doesn’t affect Subflow elements created before Summer ’20.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

How: When you set a field that supports variables, automatically stored outputs show up as available options just like other variables in the flow.

To access a Subflow element's output values, start typing the API name of the Subflow element. As you type a Subflow element’s API name in an Assignment element, a menu lets you select the Subflow element’s outputs.

Then select the specific output value. After selecting the Subflow element, the menu lets you choose the specific output value.

If you don’t want the flow to automatically store outputs for the Subflow element, select Manually assign variables (advanced).Subflow element, showing the “Manually assign variables (advanced)” field
