Preserve Bundle Structure Field Is Required for Amendments

A contract’s Preserve Bundle Structure field must now be selected before users can amend that contract. Previously, if sales reps amended from a contract or its related opportunity while Preserve Bundle Structure was deselected, Salesforce CPQ ignored the configuration of amended bundles and converted them to standalone quote lines on the amendment quote. The result was validation errors, unwanted price changes, and ignored product or price rules on the amendment quote.

Where: This change applies to Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience in all Salesforce CPQ editions.

Why: The Preserve Bundle Structure field ensures that bundles on amendment quotes have the same configuration as the quote that the sales rep amended.

How: Before upgrading to Salesforce CPQ Spring ’19, make sure that the Preserve Bundle Structure field is selected on all contracts that you want to make amendable.

When a sales rep creates an account, it inherits the Preserve Bundle Structure value from Salesforce CPQ line editor package settings. When a sales rep creates a contract, it inherits the Preserve Bundle Structure value of its parent account. We recommend selecting Preserve Bundle Structure in package settings to ensure that all new accounts and contracts have the Preserve Bundle Structure selected. The value of Preserve Bundle Structure at any level only affects related records upon record creation. For example, selecting the field on an account won't select Preserve Bundle Structure on that account's current contracts. To update Preserve Bundle Structure on your current contracts, we recommend using a process builder or workflow rule.
