Boost Engagement with Community Cloud and Marketing Cloud Integration (Beta)

We harnessed the power of Marketing Cloud’s Journey Builder to help you reach members and turn your community into a powerful marketing channel. With Journey Builder, you can create customer journeys across email, mobile, ads, and the web. With the cloud integration, community and marketing managers can place members on rich email journeys, boosting engagement and driving activity in the community. You must have both Community and Marketing Cloud licenses to use this feature.
Note

Note

This release contains a beta version of the Community Cloud and Marketing Cloud Journey Builder Integration, which means it’s a high-quality feature with known limitations. The Journey Builder Integration isn’t generally available unless or until Salesforce announces its general availability in documentation or in press releases or public statements. We can’t guarantee general availability within any particular time frame or at all. Make your purchase decisions only on the basis of generally available products and features. You can provide feedback and suggestions for Journey Builder Integration in the IdeaExchange or in the Trailblazer Community.

Let’s say that you want to get new members more involved in the community. Using Journey Builder, create an onboarding journey that triggers when members join a community. It guides new members through onboarding and prompts them to become more engaged in your community by taking steps, like uploading a profile photo. And you can keep them involved by sending trending content from the community.

Are you adding lots of members, like more than 1,000? We suggest letting Journey Builder work overnight because adding members to a community is slower when triggering journeys.

You can trigger a personalized email journey with events or you can choose a specific audience. For example, you identify the community members who are not yet MVPs. Put them on a journey that invites them to become MVPs and provides the required training. Or start a journey for customers who open a case that takes them through the support process. One of the best things about a journey is that it’s smart. It can look at a user’s status and send appropriate emails at appropriate intervals.

To get started, make sure that you have Marketing Cloud Connect set up so that the two clouds can work together. After that, it’s all Journey Builder work to create the emails and journeys and specify the events or criteria that trigger them. Check out the See Also links for specifics on how to get rolling.

Beta Considerations

If you have Communities and Marketing Cloud, the integration is designed to work together. However, we recommend contacting us and becoming an official beta tester. The advantages are:

  • We can turn on an org permission that provides additional email preference capabilities.
  • We can provide advice and guidance.
  • We can get your feedback and suggestions.
