Updated Text Format Options for Text Template Flow Resource

Flow Builder now has updated menu option names for the Text Template flow resource for viewing text.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

How: Choose View as Rich Text and apply rich text formatting, or View as Plain Text to display the text field and add HTML tags. When you switch options, changing the option doesn’t affect the text format. If you apply rich text formatting first and switch to plain text, Flow Builder converts the format style to HTML style tags. If you want plain text without any styles applied, remove the HTML style tags.

Why: Previously, Flow Builder displayed Rich Text and Plain Text in the Text Template flow resource. Because these options do not apply or remove text formatting, admins thought that choosing an option applies text formatting. The underlying behavior of the Text Template flow resource is to store all text formatting as rich text. The Summer ’20 release shows updated names to clarify the menu options.
