Chatter in Lightning Communities: Close Conversations to Further Action, Post Pinning and Cross-Community Streams Are Generally Available

Summer ’18 ushers in mature features that move from pilot or beta status to generally available. Both cross-community streams and post pinning have graduated. Also, there’s an exciting new feature for closing posts, questions, and polls to new actions.

Close a Conversation in Communities
The question is answered, the topic discussed, the poll decided—what do you do now? You end the conversation. Community admins, moderators, and permitted members can now close a question, poll, or post. And, if needed, they can reopen it. It’s a nice way to stop the churning on a settled matter.
Pin Posts to Feeds (Generally Available)
Put vital information front and center by pinning important posts to the top of group and topics feeds. Now that post pinning is generally available, we boosted the number of posts you can pin in a feed to three.
Check Community Streams Without Leaving Salesforce (Generally Available)
When you’re taking care of business in Lightning Experience, you can quickly check on your communities without switching context. Rather than jumping from your Salesforce org to your community and back, simply open a community stream from your internal org to see the latest. You can post and comment, ask questions and add polls, and take many other actions typically available in a stream.
Hide an Article’s Topics
The new Show topics option in the Article Content component’s properties in Community Builder makes it easy to show or hide the topics assigned to an article. Previously, topics always appeared, and you couldn’t hide them.
Message Button Now Shown on Mobile Profiles
The Message button that’s shown on profiles in the desktop view of your community is now available on user profiles in the mobile browser app.
View Rich Publisher App Information in Emails
You can now see app information in your email notifications, making it easier to share Rich Publisher Apps.
Get Email Notifications for Upvotes
Do you struggle to keep up with your community feed? Want to be informed without checking your feed every 10 minutes? To help you track all your feed activity, you can receive notifications whenever your posts and comments are upvoted. The notification includes the user who upvoted, where the comment or post is located, its content, and a link to the post.
