Store Larger Debug Logs with Changed Log Limits

We increased the size limit for debug logs from 2 MB per log to 5 MB. You can store up to 250 MB of debug logs at a time. System logs are now deleted automatically after 24 hours instead of after seven days. Monitoring logs are still saved for seven days.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, and all versions of the mobile app in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Database.com editions.

Why: When we analyzed debug log generation and usage, we found that most logs wouldn’t be truncated with a 5-MB size limit. We also found that most orgs don’t store more than 250 MB of logs at a time. These new limits protect everyone from service degradation while ensuring that most orgs can log all the events and store all the logs you could want.

How: When your org accumulates more than 250 MB of debug logs, we prevent users in the org from adding or editing trace flags. To add or edit trace flags so that you can generate more logs after you reach the limit, delete some debug logs. To delete debug logs, from Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Debug Logs, and then select Debug Logs | Delete.

If you want to keep a system log longer than 24 hours, you can save it to your local workstation.
