Select Which Google Calendar Events Sync to Salesforce

Reps have tons of appointments on their calendars, but only a subset of those events contains valuable data that reps want to track in Salesforce. Now setting up reps for both Lightning for Gmail and Lightning Sync lets them choose which Google Calendar™ events sync to Salesforce. This change applies to Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, and all versions of the Salesforce1 mobile app.

User Permissions Needed

As a bonus, when reps relate Google events to Salesforce using Lightning for Gmail, edits made in Google Calendar sync back to Salesforce, keeping important Salesforce events up to date automatically.

Set up reps to select which Google events sync to Salesforce.

  1. Enable Lightning for Gmail for reps, if you haven’t already.
  2. Tell reps that from now on, events that they relate to Salesforce records using Lightning for Gmail are syncing to Salesforce. Reps should edit event fields that sync (like date, time, subject, or description) in Google Calendar, not from Salesforce. That way, Lightning Sync doesn’t overwrite those edits in Salesforce.
  3. In reps’ Lightning Sync configurations, enable the feature. For the option Specify Which Google Events Sync to Salesforce, select Events Users Select.
