Customization: Smarter Lightning Pages, More Efficient Setup Navigation, More Options for Flows in Lightning Experience

Make your Lightning pages smarter by adding the new Einstein Recommendations component. Navigate more quickly around the Object Manager and other parts of Setup in Lightning Experience. And get more done in Lightning Experience with enhanced approvals and Lightning flow runtime. Lightning App Builder: New Lightning Page Components
Put Einstein to work for your users, embed active flows in a Lightning page, and add the App Launcher to your apps’ Home pages with three new Lightning page components. The Lightning App Builder is available in both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic. Unless otherwise noted, the feature changes are only for Lightning Experience.
Setup: Right-Click to Navigate, Shorter Load Times in Object Manager
Are you ready to get around Lightning Experience Setup faster? We now support opening new tabs with a right-click, and we gave the Object Manager a makeover that shortens your load times. In addition, we gave rich text editors in your custom fields a new look and added a couple new platform-only languages.
Approvals: More Functionality for Lightning Experience and Salesforce1 Users
We want your approvers to have the same experience, no matter if they’re using Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, or Salesforce1. These enhancements were available in Salesforce Classic before this release. Some enhancements are new to Salesforce1, some are new to Lightning Experience, and some are new to both experiences.
Visual Workflow: Improved Lightning Component and Lightning Runtime
It’s now easier to distribute your flows in Lightning Experience. The Flow component in Lightning App Builder is generally available and no longer has deployment limitations. Lightning runtime supports redirects and being launched from custom buttons, custom links, and web tabs. These changes apply to both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic.
Data Import Wizard: External IDs, Search, and Other Enhancements
You can now select specific External IDs, choose from multiple field separators, and search which fields to map when you import with the Data Import Wizard. We also changed the way the Data Import Wizard handles invalid field values.These changes apply to both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic.
Custom Field and Picklist Administration: New Field Type, Field Defaults, Higher Limits, and Promotion to Global Picklists
Custom fields and picklists are easier to use. Set a field-level default to complement a value-level default, and promote restricted picklists to global picklists for reuse. We also increased the number of values allowed in a global value set.
Permission Sets: Session-Based Permission Sets Generally Available, Permission Set Metadata Behavior Change
Session-based permission sets are now generally available, and you can even use declarative tools with them. Also check out the behavior change when using metadata for permission sets. These changes apply to both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic.
Salesforce Connect: Event Monitoring Pilot, Cross-Org Picklists, Rate Limit for External Object Search Results, and Temporary Salesforce IDs
Track callouts that access external object data. Picklist and multi-select picklist fields on external objects now behave more like you expect. You’re also less likely to exceed rate limits when accessing external objects. And make sure that your code and integrations don’t require search-retrieved external object records to have permanent Salesforce record IDs.
Process Builder: Access Encrypted Data, Stop Suppressing Email Notifications
When you build processes, you now have access to fields that you’ve protected with Shield Platform Encryption. The only place that encrypted data is off-limits: the filters in an Update Records element. We also released a critical update to prevent processes from suppressing email notifications.
