Generate Valid HTML Output from Formulas in Processes and Flows (Critical Update, Retired)

This critical update was released and retired in Spring '20. This change affects your Salesforce org if you activated the critical update in the short time that it was available. And, if you modified any HTML in your formulas to prepare for this critical update, this retirement affects your org.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

When: This critical update was retired and no longer appears in the Critical Update Console in Spring ’20 after February 5, 2020.

Why: The intention of the update was to make formula resources and fields on record variables in processes and flows generate correct HTML output at run time. However, enabling this critical update caused unexpected results when formula fields were used as values. For example, when you passed formula values as inputs to an action, like the email address of an Email action, the HTML output caused issues.

How: To return the behavior to how it was before you enabled the critical update, undo any changes you made in response to the update. For example, if you removed HTML formatting, then add it back.

Salesforce continues to assess strategies for generating valid HTML output from formulas in processes and flows.
