Deliver Engaging Content Across Multiple Channels and Sites

Salesforce CMS is now a hybrid CMS, which means you can create content in a central repository and share it to any endpoint, including experiences and sites powered by systems other than Salesforce. Save time by creating content once in Salesforce CMS and reusing it across different channels, such as Commerce Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Heroku, Lightning apps, and Experience Builder sites.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Essentials, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Who: To access Salesforce CMS and create content, you must be a Salesforce admin or have a contributor role in that CMS workspace. To create CMS channels and workspaces, enable the Manage CMS Workspaces and Channels user permission.

Why: Salesforce CMS breaks the tight link between content and presentation often seen in a traditional CMS. Previously, you could use Salesforce CMS content only in communities, but with the new hybrid approach, you can use Salesforce CMS to serve more endpoints, inside or outside Salesforce. By separating content from presentation, you can add content once in Salesforce CMS and then decide which channels to share it with. After that, you add the content to the various websites, portals, or mobile apps where you want the content to appear.

To support the new hybrid approach for Salesforce CMS, we added:

How: To access the Salesforce CMS Home and the CMS Channels tabs in Salesforce CMS, open the relevant user profile in Setup. In the Tab Settings section, set CMS Channels, CMS Experiences, CMS Home, and CMS Workspaces to Default On.

From the Salesforce App Launcher, find and open the Salesforce CMS app. Select CMS Channels. Select Add Channel to add an existing channel, or select Create Channel to create one.
