To ensure the quality of the information in your libraries, create validation rules for files added to libraries, records, and Files home, such as requiring users to follow naming conventions or fill in mandatory fields. Combine validation rules with customized file detail pages and record types to turbocharge the quality of the file data in your org. This feature is new in Lightning Experience.
Uploading a file is a two-step process. The validation takes place in step two.
- In the first step, you see the status of the upload—a green check indicates success. When you also see “Enter details on next page”, click Next.
- In the second step, error messages alert you to required fields or validation errors. Fix the errors and click Save.
A success toast displays when all files have posted.
Validation rules for files are managed from Setup. Enter Files in the Quick Find box, then select Validation Rules.
