Encryption for Chatter Gets Updates (Pilot)

The encryption for Chatter pilot continues to protect sensitive information in your Chatter feed. We added link URLs and poll choices to the body of encrypted content. Encryption for Chatter isn’t ready for production, but you can safely try it out in a dedicated sandbox environment. This feature is available in Lightning Experience, Lightning communities, Salesforce Classic, and all versions of the Salesforce1 mobile app.

In addition to the new fields, encryption for Chatter encrypts feed posts, questions and answers, link names, comments, and poll questions. Encryption for Chatter is an all-or-nothing encryption in that you can’t choose to encrypt some fields but not others.

To encrypt the new fields, from Setup, enter Platform Encryption in the Quick Find box. Then deselect and reselect Encrypt Chatter.

We provide encryption for Chatter to selected customers through a pilot program that requires agreement to specific terms and conditions. To be nominated to participate in the program, contact Salesforce. Pilot programs are subject to change, and we can’t guarantee acceptance. Encryption for Chatter isn’t generally available unless or until Salesforce announces its general availability in documentation or in press releases or public statements. We can’t guarantee general availability within any particular time frame or at all. Make your purchase decisions only on the basis of generally available products and features. You can provide feedback and suggestions for encryption for Chatter in the Chatter Product group in the Success Community.
