Filter Reports by Inactive Picklist Values

Filtering a report by picklist values is helpful when you want to focus on a specific product family, opportunity stage, or area of the business. Previously, you could filter reports on active picklist values only. Now you can filter by picklist values that are marked inactive as well.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Why: Determining the health of your business sometimes involves knowing where the action isn’t happening. You might want to take a closer look at all product categories that didn’t generate revenue this past quarter. Or, you may want to know which industries are not included in your sales pipeline. Enter filters by inactive picklist values that help you learn the answers to these business questions and more.

How: To filter a report by inactive picklist values, open it in report builder and click Edit. In the Filters pane, select the picklist field containing the inactive values. To select inactive values, scroll to the bottom of the picklist values. Check the values you want to apply as filters to the report. Click Apply, and run the report.
