Track changes made to data that’s stored outside your Salesforce org
with External Data Change Capture. Previously, you contacted Salesforce Customer Service, but
now it’s on by default after you enable it. External Change Data Capture was called External
Data Change Tracking in its Winter ’18 pilot release and renamed Triggers in its Spring ’19
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic as part of
Salesforce Connect using the OData 4.0 adapter. Salesforce Connect is free for Developer
Edition and available for an extra cost in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited
How: To enable a data source for change tracking, from Setup, in the Quick Find box,
enter External Data Source, and then select External Data
Source. Select your external data source, and select Eligible for
Data Change Capture. Then enter the polling interval.
You can now also see your selected entities in the Change Data Capture screen, once you
enable the Track Data Changes checkbox on external objects.
